“Heh, heh.” My five year old giggled to his 4 year old cousin about how our waiter had just addressed them, “He just called us sir.”
“That’s because I AM a sir.” replied my nephew, quite seriously.
“NO!” exclaimed my son, excitedly.
“Girls are ladies. And BOYS…are husbands.” he explained to his much younger cousin.
My sister and I looked at each other and exchanged smiles. Knowing that if we laughed at him, we wouldn’t get the rest of his explanation that he was about to bestow on us.
But, I decided to brave it…
“Well, if you aren’t a sir. And you are a husband.” I started, “Then, whose husband are you?”
My son blushes and hides his face.
“I’m YOUR husband, Mommy.” he said, proudly.
Then, it was my turn to giggle.
Good ol’ Oedipus. Has reared his little head.
awwwww that’s so sweet 😉 I love that!
I love boys….I just have to break my son of using his open mouth and tongue. But he did learn to kiss from a Bulldog and he is 15 months old. LOL
My son has proposed on many occasions. It’s just so sweet!
What a sweet little husband. Does he give foot massages?
Awww…. the making of a good husband.
How cute is that!
Awwwwwwwwww. Can’t wait until the dude starts talking!
Too too cute. The Queen is very annoyed because we have told her she can’t marry her brother OR her father when she grows up. So she’s decided to just have her baby by herself. (I’m in a cold sweat over that baby – she’s planning on having it at age 6.)
My household is an Oedipus-fest. My 6 yo son is madly in love with me and I with him. Not only do I laugh when he says he wants to marry me, I actually pause and consider how we might make that work. (did I say that out loud?) There is the age difference to consider and — oh, right — the blood ties and all. And the legalities. OK, so maybe not a good idea but nevertheless — there is nothing more wonderful than being on a pedestal SOMEWHERE in someone’s life…!
