I’m not generally a huge fan of chain restaurants. Okay, there are a couple I love. California Pizza Kitchen and Champps are two. Don’t ask me why, I just do.
When I was invited to be a guest of Granite City’s new location opening on April 8th in Northville, Michigan, I decided to take my chances. Hit or miss, right?
I chose to attend the Easter Brunch this past Sunday. Brunches are perfect for my human garbage disposal of a husband. He loves to eat and in large amounts. It’s kinda funny, trust me.
We drove up to the new building which is beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. I mean, just beautiful. I think all 33 locations have a similar look. I know the one in Troy, Michigan is really lovely, too.
When we walked in, we were greeted by smiling staff who were eager to show us to our table. Our waitress, Lori, was pretty awesome, too.
The interior is as pretty as the exterior. You don’t feel like you’re in a brewery, at all. But, you can see the brewery through windows and it’s pretty cool. I’m going to be visiting it soon and will have another report for ya! Their beers, right now, include the Duke, The Bennie which is a German Bock, The Northern..an American Lager and the Broad Axe, an Oatmeal Stout.
There is a Mug Club in which you collect points on all food and tap beer which can be redeemed for future purchases.
Anyhoo…
We didn’t get to order from the menu, which was fine. So…Let’s discuss the buffet. SO YUMMY. They had EVERYTHING. From make your own omelettes to a prime rib station and tons of everything in-between. They have their signature mac’n’cheese, which is delish. But, their cheesy hashbrowns are TO DIE FOR. Salads, salmon, pasta…you name it, they had it.
The dessert bar..omg the dessert bar. Mini carrot cakes, red velvet cake, creme de leche..was amazing.
We went with another couple, they loved it too. So, we knew it wasn’t just us and our lack of taste buds 🙂
My husband ordered one of their own beers called the Duke. It’s an IPA..Indian Pale Ale. He thought it was wonderful and ordered a growler to bring home. I had the Flying Monkey which, if you enjoy strawberry lemonade, you’ll love this spiked version! The Bloody Mary was wonderful, too. It comes with a salad bar on skewers, it’s so cool!
Our experience was so perfect, we plan on making Granite City one of our regular restaurants. Honestly, the food is so fresh and tasty. The staff is professional, courteous and friendly. The ambience is sort of chic and casual. And the prices…can’t be beat. You can go out for a nice meal and not go bankrupt. Granite City has become an instant fave of ours.
They are open 11am to midnight Monday through Thursday, 11am to 1am Friday and Saturday. Sunday their hours are 10am to 10 pm. Sunday Brunch is served from 10am-2pm.
