We had a checklist when we were searching for a house. Circle drive. Corner lot. Enough rooms and bathrooms to accommodate 5 kids and two adults. And, high priority..a pool. We desperately wanted a house with a pool.
11 years ago, this June, we moved into our house. Every single item on our list had a little check next to it. 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, corner lot, circle drive and, most importantly, a backyard with an in-ground pool.
Since neither of us had ever lived in a house that had a pool, we had no clue what to expect aside from great summer BBQ’s and pool parties. My husband and I were completely unaware of all the work that went into maintaining said swimming pool. Not to mention the fact that you basically need to be a chemist to get all the chemicals right.
Now, I’m not complaining. We’ve made a lot of great memories in our backyard. Despite the fact that, sometimes, our pool resembles more of a swamp. Because, on more than rare occasions, the water gets to be a goopy, forestry green. But hey, the chlorine levels are good so jump on in. You first. Yeah, sure, I’m right behind you. NOT.
My husband is really the one that takes care of the pool. I watch him scrunched down, bent over burdened with vials, testing all the levels and looking frustrated and confused. He makes it look like Rocket Science and he’s lacking in the science and rocket department. Oh, and math. Math isn’t one of his academic achievements either. He’s a Language Arts guy. Bring on Edgar Allen Poe or Maya Angelou and he’s all over it.
On more than a million occasions, we have thought it would be awesome if there was a different way. An easier way. In which the pool chemicals were tested. Because, what we’re doing doesn’t always seem to be working. I mean, if the chemicals were all balanced prettily, why is the pool green? And why are lilypads growing? And where did all that swamp life come from?
Clearly our prayers were heard and answered. Considering neither one of us really pray, that’s a miracle in and of itself.
A new pool product is launching on June 2. The name of the company is ConnectedYard and the product is called pHin. ConnectedYard is on a mission to own entire backyards with ‘Smart” technologies which will save families time and money! In this day and age, if something is here to make our lives easier, then why not take advantage of it?! No knee breaking squatting. No frustration over unbalanced chemicals. No annoyance over not having a rocket science degree. A floating sensor, pre-measured chemical pods and an app. That’s it.
The pHin service includes the sensor, the mobile app, and the chemical pods that pool and hot tub owners need, shipped directly to them. pHin is offering significant pre-sales discounts to early subscribers, with plans starting at $149.
As an Ambassador of ConnectedYard, I will be receiving the pool pods and chemicals in exchange for this post. I haven’t gotten them yet but, I’m super excited. So is my husband and his knees.
