On Sunday, I started a petition on Change.org that I had high hopes would go viral. It didn’t. The signatures weren’t coming in fast enough for me. So I wrote a post to support my petition.
Monday, I decided to take it social. I begged for support, RT’s and signatures. I went onto every Facebook group I belonged to and did the same. I emailed, DM’d, and did anything I could to get my post and my cause out there, seen and heard.
A mission had been set in my mind.
The momma bear fighter in me surfaced. The urge to protect what’s mine became so strong.
The anger I had been feeling? I balled it up into two of the most powerful things I have, my will and my voice.
I’m not going to recount my story, that can be read and heard on the previous post.
But, what happened after I opened my virtual mouth and let the words and feeling pour out…was AMAZING.
I was heard.
Not only that but, people I didn’t know were sharing their stories with me. Friends were telling me about their own mortgage troubles.
Virtual friends starting writing about things they never thought they could publish like this one by MochaMomma.
A chord had been struck. Resonating.
I realized that I wasn’t fighting alone anymore. An army had been formed. A HUGE one. All of us armed with the power of the internet.
I also realized that I’m not doing this for just my family anymore. I’m doing this because there are so many more of me out there, fighting to keep our families from the fate these banks decide for us.
The strength in our numbers is a force to be reckoned with.
Because of all of you, my plight has been heard and seen by hundreds of thousands of people.
THAT? Is HUGE!
Tonight, our file went right to the Advocate of the President of Bank of America. He will be handling it personally. Not that this means anything. I figure that the possibility of bigger mirrors and more smoke is what we may encounter.
But this? This is the power we have. We ALL have it. WE can ALL be heard if we support each other and consider each others causes to be ours too.
WE are AMERICA. TOGETHER we stand.
And by standing together? How can we fall when there is always someone there to help us up?
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
We WILL make a difference.
You go girl. Tigress – like I said.

Former Countrywide customer bought out by Bank of America. Dealing with the exact same thing here. Any payments I made that didn’t reach the full mortgage monthly payment amount were put in what they call a “partial account” and until that account reaches the exact to the penny amount of a monthly payment it won’t get applied to anything racking up fees and interest. I spent a year trying to get an answer to my second modification request, the first they just kept losing paperwork, the second they said that if you don’t call them weekly that they will disregard the modification application, called weekly for a year to have them tell it is under review while continuing to send foreclosure notices and calls. Finally complained to better business bureau in Sept. and got a call within 3 days that supposedly the modification is denied in July, why? they won’t tell me and when I called weekly all their staff and records showed modification was still under review no decision made. Two days later they call and leave me a voicemail saying modification is in review should have an answer soon, one person says it is denied, next it is in review, next it was decided in July, no one knows anything. Now they assigned me a customer rep that has yet to return a numerous phone calls and messages left over the past 3 weeks. Her supervisor also has failed to return any phone calls. I don’t believe for one second that they grant anyone a modification.
Rawr! You are a force to be reckoned with.

I made a video protest recently for my blog. It is quite funny even if you are pro-megabank. I called my credit card’s customer service line to do some negotiating. Having a bit of leverage, I thought it presented a great opportunity to mess with them a little and make a few points about the unfairness of the credit card lending system. Since it’s a protest at home, I called it my kitchen counterstrike against Bank of America. I think you might enjoy it. http://www.ragingwisdom.com/?p=508
