San Diego Momma and her Promptuesday has us writing…
What one thing can’t you give up?
Well…here ya go.
Diaries with lost keys, broken open to reveal partial secrets. Notepads shoved under bins, shoved under the bed.
Each different color covering gives shelter to different ideas.
Hidden words.
Unfinished stories.
Under developed characters.
Poems with missing lines.
Chorus with no song.
All tucked away, behind and under. A dumping ground for the unfinished.
A shy girl, scared and intimidated by the words that freely fly within her.
She makes promises to herself, to her notebooks and her diaries. She kisses them and promises to return. To finish them. All of them.
But she doesn’t.
Years go by.
And she forgets.
She moves on, wandering aimlessly but never finding what she’s looking for.
The notebooks, words, stories…long ago lost, covered in cobwebs and dust bunnies, the only ones who ever knew the secrets kept.
Eventually, they are gone. Thrown away to make room for different things.
No longer a girl, the shy woman slowly leaves her shell, just as slowly becoming unafraid. She clears the fog from within, jarring loose the memory of a feeling that reemerges.
Words begin to bubble and flow.
She has found her love for her stories, characters, poems. And she’ll never give them up again.
This is a post I get in my deepest core.
But please please please tell me those words in cobwebs aren’t gone forever. (Did you really throw them out?)
I hope not, but I rest easy knowing you have a million other beautiful words to replace them.
