We have done absolutely nothing over break. Which means, all 7 of us have been cooped up in the house. Annoying the crap out of each other. NON. STOP.
It’s like I’ve gotten to know my kids better though. And I’ve made some major realizations about them that I am, with their knowledge, going to share with you. Well, and some stuff about the rest of us too.
1) The boys don’t shower very often. Nor do they change their clothes often. Thankfully though, they put on deodorant so their odor isn’t too odoriferous. The girls? Shower way too often, to only put back on their pajamas.
2) They are major, big time addicted to video games. My oldest daughter couldn’t sleep well because every time she closed her eyes, the Black Opps forces were there, pointing guns at her. That’ll teach her. Take eyeball breaks.
3) My youngest child is exceptionally overdramatic, crying out “Screw my whole life” if things don’t go his way. Academy award anyone? And a lock for his door. (He gets his bad language from his father. For sure.)
4) My youngest daughter is extremely PMS’y. Or maybe we’ll just call a spade a spade…she has bitchy tendencies. I love the girl but OMFG. Get your period already so that we only have to deal with this for one week a month instead of every freaking day. Love.
5) What ever happened to brushing teeth? And…holy bad breath. I think I’ve turned to stone a few times over break when having morning conversations with kids who don’t believe in brushing teeth before opening mouth.
6) We are a VERY lazy family. Like…lazy with a capital L.
7) Laundry hasn’t piled up too badly. People aren’t changing clothes so often because we’ve been living in pajamas unless otherwise necessary.
8) The kids eat a lot. Especially carbs. And pizza. We’ve ordered a lot of pizza. See #6. We have been lazy which means I haven’t cooked. Well, not very much. OK, maybe twice.
9) My children don’t like being asked to do anything. Which, I already knew. But, it’s really annoying, especially when it’s more appropriate for them to take the dogs out in their pajamas then it is for me to do.
10) The house hasn’t gotten very messy over this break. Most likely because we’ve all been on some sort of electronics, in our pajamas, non-stop. I have a pinched nerve in my neck from hunching over my computer all day. The days that I wrestle my computer away from my husband.
11) Yeah, one for good luck. My oldest daughter? She’s so BOY CRAZY. She reminds me of me. 🙂
Yeah, it’s been really VERY boring.
You?
We set up the new playroom for the girls and they have been in it maybe two hours in the past week. Our living room is clean because my husband is a clean freak. I am just now getting caught up on work. Blah.

One of the good things about having kids who drive is if they get really bored they can leave and hang out with friends, and leave me in peace.

I can always tell when we are on some kind of vacation because my son wears jammies and eschews underwear. If my laundry only consists of jammies and socks, I know its vacation time.

So glad to hear my household is not the only video-game-obsessed no-showering-boys type place!

We started out break with a bang, doing all kinds of fun stuff. Now, I’m sick (social planner out of commission) so older daughter bailed to her dad’s house where she has wheels (freedom) and youngest is bouncing off the walls. Not eating so well around here, either. Let the school year begin again.

I have to say I’m ready for routine again – if only to get me out of my jammies.
Seriously, I remember the boy going through the no shower, no changing underwear phase (gross!). Eventually, they grow out of it and then begin to shower every possible chance they get. Don’t ask – you don’t want to know. Trust me.

You crack me up! I live for laziness – I often say I can’t wait for my kids to be teens so we can all sleep…not sure if that will compensate for the smell and pms…

My MIL is driving down today to watch the girls so I can get out of this freakin’ house! 😉 I can work from home when needed since my boss is understanding about school break but I really need to get out!
p.s. NOT looking forward to the PMS years..I am bad enough as it is LOL
I’m so jealous! I’ve been working at Winter Camp (Boy Scouts) since Sunday morning. Tomorrow is the last day (1/2 day). I can’t wait for it to be over so I can have some lazy time. 🙂

Mel, you never cease to crack me up!
We’ve done pretty much nothing as well, other than go to other family’s houses… and girlie even wore her new pyjamas there on Christmas day! The holidays are officially PJ time.
We’ve been spending a lot of time lazing about as well, and the boy has Black Ops in the brain too- when we haven’t been out, he’s been on from 8 AM until 8 PM (maybe later) – and it’s only because I love you that I actually admit what a bad mother I am in that regard. I’ve been surfing the net, window shopping at Beyond the rack while checking out blogs. Very productive.
Santa’s video message to the boy, telling him to take a bath more often, did little to persuade him. Guess he no longer believes unless it’s convenient (ie. Santa prezzies). Mind you, once he’s in the shower, it’s hard to get him out. Uh oh.
