Stats don’t matter. Stats don’t matter. Stats DO NOT matter.
Yes. They do. With stats comes clout comes special treatment. Doors open, red carpets unfurl. Or so it seems.
Stats don’t matter. STATS DON’T MATTER. You’re wrong, stats don’t matter.
Yes silly. Of course they do. Numbers mean that your words are being appreciated and validated.
But everyone else swears that stats don’t matter. They say they don’t even look at their stats. They say stats don’t influence anything
Duh, that’s because they know they have tons of readers. And they probably really do know EXACTLY how many hits they get a day and won’t admit it. Maybe.
Stats shouldn’t matter. They are only numbers. I shouldn’t get caught up in the number game. Write from my heart, be transparent and the rest will follow.
Bull. You’ve been writing from your heart. You’ve been transparent before transparency was even a fricking issue. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, shut up and just keep writing. It is what it is and what it won’t ever be.
Stats don’t matter. Stats don’t matter. Stats don’t matter.
Keep telling yourself that, baby doll. Because you know as well as I do that, in the blogging world, stats DO matter. Heh.
NO. Stats shouldn’t matter. It should be about quality. Stats. Suck.
Not ALL stats, girlfriend. Just yours.
Stats don’t matter. Stats don’t matter. Stats don’t matter.
Geez, it’s a good thing no one reads blogs on the weekend. (It’s probably just your blog they don’t read, ha!) Stop feeling sorry for yourself, write and shut up. No one likes a whiner.
Rolls eyes.
Rolls eyes.
I want to agree with Angel Blogger but like Devil Blogger I check my stats religiously and get super excited when there is a jump and super worried when there is a dip… (and we are not talking about big numbers here)
That said… We should both keep writing cuz we love to write and let the rest work itself out!
*Is is midnight yet? You know so I can check today’s stats… Yeah – the ones that dont matter…
Melisa,
I read you everyday but am sadly not very good about replying…I just nod my head, commiserate and say to myself “You go, sister…that’s what I thnk but am too lazy to write it all down!!”

I think if most bloggers are honest, they do keep track of their stats very closely.
With that said, the stats are only important as the correlate to your goals. If your goal is to build a blog that’s read widely, then, yes, they’re real important. If you blog primarily because you enjoy writing about a particular subject and want to be a part of a like-minded community, then I don’t think stats matter very much.
In my own particular case, I have a couple of goals. First off, I do enjoy blogging and connecting with folks – particularly other Detroiters. Secondly, I am trying to build an audience for e-books that I intend to write and publish. So what I blog, I blog from the heart. But I am trying to build numbers through the blog, through twitter and through facebook.
Are your goals defined?
PJ Lincoln´s last blog post ..Amazing
I look at my stats each week, but I do not get hugely excited about them, but if there is a dip, I will wonder why for a few minutes.
However I am not trying to make money from my blog. If you are trying to make money from your blog, than stats are very, very important.

As the others have already said – it depends on your goals as to whether or not they matter and how much.
But no matter your stats – I love to come here.
Gigi´s last blog post ..Torture and self-doubt Surely- Im not the only one
I turned off my stats, didn’t look at them for months, then finally just closed shop. I was fretting over things I had very little, if any, control over… it just wasn’t fun any more.

Stats Do Not Matter. Unless they’re Zero. Then YOU don’t matter. Thankfully, your stats will never, ever be zero.
