To Whom It May Concern,
Hi.
Once upon a time, I was a divorced mom too. Let’s hear it for unburdening the baggage. Woot.
I was leg over ears for a couple of men back then. But, I would always put my love games on pause if my kids called.
Sometimes though, I was just flat out sleeping.
But, I always had a phone next to my ear, even if my legs were there too.
My kids were much younger at the time so, it was usually their father who called me but that’s neither here nor there.
Now?
I’m remarried but I still keep a phone by my, on me, near me. On vibrate AND on the loudest ring. You never can be too sure.
I hardly, if ever, miss a phone call or a text from my kids.
The point is…
Your child called you last night.
There was no answer.
He was safe though.
He slept here.
Just thought you should know.
Signed,
A Sanctimonious Mom

To Whom It May Concern,
I wish I didn’t have to capitalize the greeting because there is no respect being put into this letter.
Cutting your teachers salaries sucked. I’m not going to speak for all the other teachers because maybe, perhaps, they are all wealthy trust fund babies…
But…
You have put our family into dire straights. Our entire life as we knew it has been altered. Alternate arrangements for things we took for granted are going to have to be made.
Teachers who give their all to try to make better human beings through education have been fist fucked. Yeah, I swore. I’m pissed.
Teachers who produce teachers, doctors, lawyers, SUPERINTENDENTS, ADMINISTRATORS, actors…EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that make this world go round…
are the least respected of all the professions.
Without them, there wouldn’t be YOU.
What a nice way of saying thanks.
Signed,
I’m guessing that one of your kids had a friend over and his/her parent never picked them up? That’s so sad. When my parents got divorced we lived with my mom and she was NEVER around. It was impossible to get a hold of her. Needless to say that was very frustrating. Also, what they are doing to teachers in Michigan and all over the country is bullshit.
If typed words could scream, these would. I am a teacher in a private school and have tried for years to get into public for one reason. More money. However, these days that is not a guarantee and even being hired in at low man on the pole would be very scary.
I am happy where I teach but my pay check sucks ass. And my insurance is for me only not my 2 kids. I work from 7:30-3:30 and drag work home almost every night and go in on the weekends when my kids are with their dad and I get BS for pay. I also tutor 3 hours a week just to get a few extra bucks.
I stood in line for 5 HOURS in June to get a 5 MINUTE interview for a local district. Never heard a peep from it. There were 2,000 teachers there, at least, applying for 50 openings. So depressing.
Everything about education is scary today. All of the lay-offs, cut backs, decreased salaries….
I wish I had an answer. I think the entire system needs an overhaul but how????
You got me all worked up. 🙂
*sighs*
They both deserve a big fat mushroom print.
I don’t understand how parents can NOT answer their phone. If I miss a call, I call right back if it’s my child!
