This post resonates strongly with me right now. Just yesterday I said goodbye to a close childhood friend who died in a car accident. Certainly changes your perspective, huh?

Someone at the funeral said, far more eloquently than this, but…it’s not how often you talk or see each other, it’s how well you show that you value your friendship that matters.

Oh, and I just went to a Bon Jovi concert over the weekend – they were just as good as circa 1988 when I first saw them. Retro? I don’t think so…we’re not THAT old…are we?

Unfortunately I have buried more than a few friends. Sometimes I look in the mirror and ask how at 41 I have been to as many funerals as I have, but the fact is that life happens and we lose people along the way.

So take the time now or you risk not having it later.

When it’s all said and done, all that really counts is who you care about and who cares about you. Given the choice, friends and family win over fame and fortune – for me, anyway. Which is a lucky thing – because I ain’t got no money – but I got me some family and more than a few friends. And I’m rich.

Loved this post…and the important reminder to let people in your life know how important they are to you.
