Tweets had been tweeting and retweeting for weeks. Some interest had been shown by local Michigan peeps.
Obsessively, like I do pretty much everything…I tweeted. To the point of, what my friend TeacherMommy let me know…desperation. But I really, really wanted this to be successful! My first attempt at a meet up! But definitely…not my last!!
I had no clue what to expect. Quantity. Conversation. Anything!! I had never been to a blogger meet up before. In fact, I’m not sure that any bloggers have EVER met up in Metro Detroit, but I don’t know for sure. I wasn’t even really aware of other bloggers existing in Metro Detroit…until recently. *Drapes back of hand over forehead dramatically* I thought I was all alone. Deep and sad sigh.
I picked up Rachael at our designated rendezvous point. We decided to drive together on this operative mission. It was great because we chatted the whole way there, neither one of us outwardly nervous. Conversation was easy and light…and comfortable! Well, I thought it was!
We got to Loving Touch Pool Hall and immediately ordered a drink. Well…duh, right?!
Teacher Mommy showed up. Then Mom Zombie and lastly, @TJList, who is still working on starting his blog…
And it was great.
The conversation, which dove directly into religion constantly flowed from light to deep and everything in between. I’m not sure how much @TJlist was able to get a word in with the four blabber mouth women he was with. We spoke of our lives, why we blog, how blogging has become our lives. The great thing about it…we were talking blogging with other bloggers. People who “get” it. And we tweeted. No one got upset with us about the tweeting. Because…we “get” it.
Loving Touch is beautiful. All the furniture and the bar…handmade by a local guy, who I happen to know personally! It seems like a great place to go and hang out. Get in a couple games of pool. The beer and wine selection is terrific!
We stayed there for around an hour. Mostly, we waited to see if more were going to join our little soiree. When it appeared that it was just the five of us, we moved next door to the Woodward Avenue Brewery. A couple of us were starving…including me. Dying of starvation. I, personally, hadn’t eaten much due to nerves. Yeah, I had been pretty nervous! After all, I was the planner of the event!
It wasn’t about the quantity. It was a tiny meet up. And I truly hope that more Michigan bloggers will show up to the next one. Which I will start looking into perhaps having sponsors and such. Let’s get MetroDetroit Bloggers noticed. And on the blogging radar!!
BUT, with that being said…
The quality…
We have, here in Metro Detroit…the finest woman and man 😉 bloggers. Great people. Interesting stories. Incredible blogs…and blog in the making. And not bad to look at, if I do say so!
I want to say that I was honored and privileged to have met the four of you! And I can’t wait to do it again. Soon, eh???
And maybe we should mix it up a bit and someone wear neon!
And I leave you with a little photo gallery of last nights MetroDetroit Blogger Meet Up:
Sound like everyone had a great time. Congrats on the successful meet-up!
You definitely are NOT giving yourself enough credit–this is a WAY better post than anything I’ve been able to come up with!
And it was fun.
And WOOT! I am your FRIEND and that is AWESOME!
I think we should do another one in August and build up towards a big one in September/October. Maybe we could have sponsors by then…
So glad you had a great time…and that it was such a success (even with a small group). Reminds me of the CLE meetup we had last month. Small but FUN!
I knew you’d be the first to get a post up! I had a wonderful time with each and everyone in attendance. Stay tuned for my post, which will be up before the sun sets on this day. Thank you for organizing this and getting the word out.
HOTTIE.
Looks like it was a great time!!!
So glad it was a success.
Can’t wait to see you in a few weeks 🙂
I saw a tweet about this yesterday afternoon and then @TJList mentioned it to me, but I couldn’t make it on short notice. I would definitely be interested in the next one. It sounds like it was a success!
