Is it completely necessary to post every single day?
Without fail?
Sometimes more than once a day?
Will we lose friends if, by chance, we take a breather for a day or so and concentrate on…oh, maybe crocheting that chemo cap promised to a co-worker.
Or well, maybe, looking into getting a little story published.
Or folding and putting away laundry which has overtaken not only the dining room table but, the dining room, as well.
Or maybe reading that book, The Historian, that you bought ages ago but have yet to pick up.
Do you lose respect or interest in a blogger friend if the blog isn’t updated on a daily basis?
What keeps you coming back to a blog, anyways?
If a blog hasn’t been updated, do you peruse the archives?
Well, the vault doors to my archives are wide open to you today.
Because, I just don’t have any juices flowing for a post right now.
XOXO
Mel, I kid you not, I am trying to get through the Historian myself…I started it, uh, back in 2005 when it first came out, too :).
I don’t know how you’ve blogged as often as you have anyway. I used to daily, but it got crazy. Now I’m lucky if I get 4 posts in a week.
You take that time.. cuz I know you’ll be back!
You rock,
I drool.
Not blogging daily didn’t stop people from coming back, but not blogging for a year or two did. Yet there are still some that come back after a very long break, that is what I call real blogging friends 🙂
Well, if we’re supposed to blog daily, then I’m definitely falling short. My average seems to be 3 times (4 max) a week. Sometimes, there just doesn’t seem to be anything blog worthy to write about.
Blogging daily is hopefully not a requirement, b/c I certainly can’t today.
Oh, and if I was you I wouldn’t bother with The Historian. I read it a few months ago. It was ok, until the end. Then I was extremely disappointed.
I semi-reviewed it here:

And I keep coming back b/c you’re interesting, you make me laugh, and you update at a decent rate. It definitely doesn’t have to be daily, though. 😉
With all the Twitter updates goin’ on, it doesn’t even occur to me… 😀
I’d say no, it’s not good to go too long, but you don’t have to post daily.
If that makes sense.
A full day of kidlets under 4 years old is rotting what used to be my brain.
OHMYGOD, the Historian rocks!
I’ve stopped posting every day. Only when it suits me. And I can’t read every day, so a day off is ok.
Your story…your story!!! That’s the focus. (Promise…next few days!)
Blog when you feel like it, don’t be a slave to daily posts!
I do mostly daily, but when a day or two comes and I feel too busy or whatever, you gotta let go and don’t stress out or blog anyway, feeling guilty…..
your true readers will understand if you take some days off….
it is when it goes over a week without explanation that I worry about someone not posting…and after a month without explanation, I take them off my favorite list…..
I post every/other day at best. But then again maybe that’s why I only have a handful of readers. ha ha ha!
Not that you should take advice from me… I only blog once in a great while (of course, I don’t have a ton of readers).
But I think you’re supposed to blog for *you* so whatever works for you is what you should do. Don’t be a slave to your blog. It’s not the quantity that keeps me reading, it’s the quality.
Eh, I have abandoned the Historian about 2/3 of the way through, it was just not worth it. Not enough story or character to propel me forward, I guess.
