School breaks are hectic and chaotic at my house. Too much togetherness. Too much whining. And crying. And carrying on.
I gotta say…breaks are NOT fun.
And generally, even when it’s a short one like Thanksgiving…I want to line them up and play dominoes with their heads. Don’t worry. I don’t.
But…it’s sometimes fun to picture yourself pushing one child into another, causing a domino effect!!
Forget those long breaks. Dominoes is tame compared to what I feel like doing to them after a long day of listening to how bored they are and this one did that to the other…insert a banshee like scream from the mother here…
But then there are times, for example…
When my oldest son, who is approaching 13…comes up to me and puts his head on my chest for a hug. And he tells me how much he loves me and that he’s a Mommas boy.
Or…
When I’m putting my little one to bed. I’m squeezing him tight and telling him how much I love him. And he is squeezing back and telling me that he loves me so much that he’s going to keep on squeezing and never let me go.
Or…
My daughter who looks at me with her big, green eyes and tells me how perfect I am and how glad she is that I’m her Mommy.
That’s when the whining…
and the crying…
and the complaining…
doesn’t matter…
if only for a few moments…
Until…
they hate me….
and each other…
and they begin the cycle…
AGAIN.
Sounds like my house when I was younger.
it’s why we let them live.
oh the joys of motherhood! I remember those days!
Yep, I hear ya. Just think, Christmas break is almost here!
yup, i said this in a different blog a while ago.
God made children cute so we love them anyway 🙂 their tininess and cuteness over rules anything bad immediately and mostly always 😛
Thanksgiving is just long enough for them to get on our nerves, but short enough that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes the little ankle biters can be so sweet.
Loved this post (and I love breaks, but I’m a teacher 🙂
