We all know of my addiction to Coke Zero, right?
OK, fine. My name is Melissa and I’m a Coke addict. Wait, that doesn’t sound appropriate.
Let’s try this again…
My name is Melissa and I’m a Coke Zero addict.
Phew…much better. Now I don’t have to worry about the men in black coming to take my kids away.
So…
We had this little pre-Labor Day shin-dig here…before Labor Day. DUH!
My kids…what little geniuses…
Decided it would be great fun to take pop cans, shake them up and let them explode…
ALL OVER THE DRIVEWAY.
Fine…as long as it wasn’t my Coke Zero. Well…not really but…
Wait.
It didn’t START with the Coke.
No…they started with the easy stuff.
The Faygo Grape. The Faygo Orange. AND…the Faygo Citrus. The Sams Club Sample Pack.
But, that wasn’t good enough for them.
They couldn’t stop themselves. The pull was tooooo strong.
Somehow though…a few of my kids were able to pull themselves away. They shook and quaked with withdrawal but…they did it. And spent the rest of the time cramming chips and candy in their pig faces!
But…there were a couple more. One…wasn’t my child. One…well, was my youngest.
And they did the unthinkable.
They got into the case of Diet Coke.
And then…
They did the UNMENTIONABLE…
They got into the case of Coke Zero.
And they shook them.
And they threw them.
All over my driveway.
Both. Cases. GAH!!
No Coke Zero for me…
My kids lost all the money they earned from cleaning the basement…THAT was their punishment.
And today…
The child who wasn’t mine…
She redeemed herself.
She called me on my cell phone. And she told me that, sitting on my front porch is a case of Diet Coke.
She told me that she was sorry. And…she paid for it with her own money…
She’s not quite 10 1/2.
And I am so proud of her. And I am so impressed with how her parents…good friends of mine…are raising their children.
I hope that, if my kids did something that I thought they should be ashamed of…that I would treat it in the EXACT same way.
So…thank you Ari. I’m very proud of you. That was a big deal and it took a lot of guts!! You rawk…little chicky!!
Yay, for little Ari, she does indeed rock.
YAY!! I love to hear that parents are actually “parenting” their children….oh and this story is funny as hell
WoW! Glad to see parents doing something =) Good for Ari.
Before my surgery, I was seriously addicted to Diet Pepsi, and if this had been done with my precious Diet Pepsi, blood would’ve been shed.
It’s great that the kids’ mother made her own up to it though. Great parenting move!
Yay for you and the friend raising kids with integrity. Sadly, something you don’t see much of anymore.
Good for her and good for her parents for teaching her now!
Her parents are definitely raising her right!
Too bad she didn’t replace the Coke Zero. Everyone knows Coke Zero tastes better than Diet Coke!
Seriously, what a nice little girl. Most kids wouldn’t do that and most parent in this day and age wouldn’t even think about making their children replace something. Good for her AND her parents.
Oh wow. I AM impressed.
