Do you think that my towels are trying to tell me something? No matter how much they are washed…with lovely lavender scented Tide. No matter how often they are bleached…to the point that my once off-white towels, are now white. They still…it doesn’t matter what I do…smell. Like…MILDEW!
Are they trying to tell me that they are tired and need to be retired? They’re only 12 years old. Isn’t that young in towel years?
Just wondering…
XOXO

Umm…gross… I pass our towels on to the kids’ bathroom after 2 or 3 years and everytime I pass them on the old ones go to the laundry room rag pile. I hear there is a sale at Sears this week…

I had that sour smell in my towels for awhile. I finally started washing all the white ones with DOUBLE the bleach, and the colors with the color safe bleach. I washed each load three times before they went in the dryer (line drying will never get the smell out). It worked. And sorry Sexy, but I have a couple of towels I had in college. In 1980. Yeah, I’m that old, and so are they. But they don’t stink now. As for me . . . (why does old age have to smell?)

You can get another 12 years on them if you step away form the bleach… all gentle like, now, and put a little vinegar in your prewash. Yep you heard me– we fight stinky with stinky. Your lovely lavender smell will cover the vinegar smell that killed the mildew smell. Now go, run to the laundry room and you can thank me in person when you get here.
